The 6th annual Torch Awards, hosted by the Better Business Bureau serving Mainland BC at the Four Seasons Vancouver last week, is its most celebrated event of the year. It is fair to say the competition, for the Green, Community and Marketplace awards, was fierce. Among a banquet room full of deserving businesses, Hollyburn Properties was honoured in the category of Community Excellence.

The Torch Awards are a business recognition awards program created to acknowledge and promote ethics in the marketplace, the theme this year being: “Better Business, Better Community.” The keynote speaker Brian Postlewait, Executive Director of Mission Possible and one of Business in Vancouver’s “top 40 CEO’s under 40,” said it best when he emphasized the concept of creating a social profit.

Hollyburn has social profit in mind and almost 40 years of community involvement to show for it. Furthermore, the furniture they take with them along with the reference extend far beyond the year long subsidized housing plan.
