Tax Rebates

The City of Victoria offers a municipal property tax exemption for electrification retrofits in commercial, multi-unit residential, and mixed-use buildings within city limits.

The Offer:
A 10-year municipal property tax exemption covering up to 100% of project costs for switching from fossil fuel-powered space and water heating to electric or hybrid alternatives. Other energy efficiency upgrades may be eligible when bundled.

Eligible buildings must be:

• – located within the City of Victoria
• – use fossil fuel (i.e. natural gas, diesel, oil) for space heating or domestic hot water
• – have 3–6 storeys with a minimum of 10 suites
• – be a commercial, multi-unit residential, and mixed-use buildings
• – be built before the year 2000

Note: This is a pilot program, so intake is currently limited with potential for expansion.

Buildings must have at least 3 suites and can be any size or age.

Eligible buildings must be:

• – located within the District of Saanich limits
• – be a commercial, multi-unit residential, or mixed-use building
• – use fossil fuel (i.e. natural gas, diesel, oil) for space heating, domestic hot water or ventilation
• – have a minimum of three suites
• – be any size or age
