Advancing Building Electrification in BC
A shift toward energy efficient rental buildings
The shift toward more energy-efficient, low-carbon buildings is underway, and LandlordBC is leading the conversation. Through its contribution to BC’s Building Electrification Roadmap, LandlordBC has helped ensure the needs of rental buildings are reflected in priority actions across the province.
This ZEIC webinar explores the 2026 Roadmap update, with insights from industry and municipal leaders on key barriers, emerging opportunities, and practical actions for scaling low-carbon buildings in BC.
Understanding Building Energy Benchmarking Requirements
How benchmarking works
New energy benchmarking requirements are affecting large strata, rental, commercial, and multi-family buildings across BC. Buildings over certain size thresholds in Saanich, Victoria, and Vancouver may need to report 2025 energy-use and emissions data by June 1, 2026.
In this webinar, specialists from Victoria and Vancouver explain reporting requirements, affected buildings, timelines, preparation steps, and available support resources. Benchmarking can also help reduce operating costs, with research showing average energy savings of up to 9% within three years.
